This is not such a new pattern, I've been making this for some four or five years now but to order. Originally designed for the Staffs/Worc. Canal (Hence the name) above Wolverhampton where lock movement is frequent and depth is quite shallow.

I also use this pattern  for the Castle Ashby Winter League when drawn on either Scotland or Grendon ponds where Roach are the main query on the pole line.
